Meteor Plan Translations, part one
Before reading this, a few notes! I don't understand a word of Japanese myself, these were translated for me by a friend, from Japanese to Italian. Since I do want to share fandom things and top people into apping Coulomb at Thusia for me, the translations on here are from ITALIAN TO ENGLISH. While this is obviously not going to be a babelfish-like monster and I'm keeping things as close to the original meaning as possible, the fact this is a translation of a translation still means not everything is 100% accurate. I'm also way more used to translate from English to Italian rather than the other way around so a few things might end up sounding awkward. Better than the nothing that was out there so far though.
Another important thing! My friend's pretty damn good, but she couldn't find a written script for these cds, so she had to go by ear. Because a lot of the dialogs use dialects and slang (this especially for Coulomb), she didn't translate everything word per word but gave summaries for the parts she couldn't translate properly. Again, STILL BETTER THAN NOTHING.

TRACK ONE
A rock coming from the faraway space fell in our country, Amestris. That rock brought along something from beyond the sky.
Man1: "W-what was that?!"
Man2: "A star! A star crossed the sky!"
Yes, it brought something along.
"Monthly Shonen Gangan's supplement: Drama CD, Full Metal Alchemist - Meteor Plan, part one."
TRACK TWO
There's a man complaining about damages to his car. Comes Ed to the rescue, yelling: "State Alchemist Edward Elric, I'm here!" and using alchemy to repair it. Then he proclaims "I'll fix everything that's causing you troubles!" and proceeds to fix ALL THE THINGS everywhere, surrounded by an admiring crowd. He concludes his marvelous feats with a "Your local State Alchemist, Edward Elric!"
The two brothers go back to their room and Al comments that, thanks to the fact Ed is working in such a showy and loud way, rumors about him should start spreading soon. They're trying to catch Scar's attention so they can ask him about Winry's parents, as well as use him to bait the Homunculi to ask them about the Gate of Truth and find a way to get Al's body back. Al seems to be disheartened, but Ed reassures him by telling him: "Everything's going to be all right. —No, I'll make sure everything will go well." Al comments on how he's happy to be able to use alchemy to help people and do good instead of fighting, and Ed propose to open a store once everything's over:
Al: "Elric's siblings Guidance on Everything Office!"
Ed: "We can solve any of your troubles, with Alchemy!"
There's knocking on the door. Al wonders if it isn't Winry but realizes right after that if it were her, she'd just come into the room instead of waiting outside. Once the door is open, there's a woman who's looking for "the famous Edward Elric" and asks them to help her fix her house, or rather, her household.
Woman: "We're all on our own in my family! My children don't listen to me, my husband is always out and almost never comes home... and it looks like he's got a lover! Please, do something!"
Al: "Err... something like that... Alchemy can't really..."
Woman: "How!? People says "if you ask Edward Elric, he'll fix anything for you!""
Ed: "Al... see her to the door."
Al: "I'm sorry. Maybe try to talk with them..."
At this point, Al is wondering if maybe other people like that woman are going to keep on coming. And right on the mark...
Man: "Help me! I'm in troubles! I have no money to buy a present for my girlfriend!"
Ed: "GET A JOB!"
[friend could not understand what problem the second woman was having, so this part is blank.]
Child: "My friends keep making fun of me and calling me 'shorty, shorty"! Make me taller!"
Ed: "IF ALCHEMY COULD MAKE PEOPLE TALLER, I WOULD HAVE ALREADY USED IT!!"
TRACK THREE
Coming from the window, Ling and Ran Fan show up as well. Like Ed and Al, Ling is hoping that the Homunculi will come out of their hiding place soon. There's another knock at the door. Ed says to leave it be, but Ling brings something to Ran Fan's attention and she remarks that the presence outside of the door is different from that of a homunculus. Enters a girl who's asking Ed to save her city, Weltz. Ed initially misunderstands her request, but later she explains she's asking him to save it from distruction, not to fix it.
Girl: "Are you the State Alchemist— Puchiward Elric?"
Ed: "Puchi(small)?"
Girl: "Oh, it's not that? Miniward Elric?"
Ed: "I'M NEITHER SMALL NOR MINI! ED! EDWARD ELRIC!"
Ling: "*laughing* Well, well, it's fine like that, isn't it? She's right on the mark in a way!"
Ed: "You...!!"
Ling: "*laughing* That aside... *there's the sound of a sword being taken out, and his tone of voice changes to a threatening one* Oi, you. What are you? Your presence's a little weird."
Al: "—Sword!?"
Ling: "Answer already."
The girl says her name is Meivelle, and asks Ed to save her city from the destruction brought forth by the "children of the stars", who awoke from their sleep. Then she passes out.
Ed: "Children of the stars...?"
TRACK FOUR
Once they arrive at Weltz, Ed comments that it doesn't look like a city near destruction, and Al points out it's pretty peaceful, even if it seems there's some sort of weird lichen growing on every building. Ed considers it disgusting, and has to stop Ling, who seems to be fully intending on tasting it, by yelling "DON'T EAT THAT!". Meanwhile, Meivelle is still passed out.
The group is approached by a man who claims to know Meivelle, and says she's actually the mayor's daughter who disappeared the day before and whose name isn't Meivelle, but Nono!
Change of scene to the mayor's house, and there's the mayor running to his daughter and trying to get her back to her senses, worrying about WHAT IF SHE'S DEAD. Ed tells him to calm down and that Nono's just sleeping. Al tells the mayor that Nono passed out and that they walked her back, and the man says he wants to thank them. Ed is annoyed but concludes it's necessary to listen to what they have to say (about the supposed incoming destruction of the city). Ling complains and insists that it's better to just go back to Central, but Ed reminds me the girl's desperate plead and Ling decides to just go sight-seeing around.
Ling: "I'll leave the boring stuff to you!"
TRACK FIVE
Nono is sleeping on the couch and Al observes that she's fast asleep, and asks her father if it's fine to leave her on the couch. "I'd start worrying if I'd left her somewhere I can't see her" he explains, serving tea.
Ed: "Save the city from destruction."
Mayor: "Eh?"
Ed: "Your daughter told me that. Does that ring a bell?"
Mayor: "What are you talking about? As you saw for yourself, the city is peaceful... it's peaceful even outside of it."
Ed&Al: "Suspicious, suspicious!"
Mayor: "Everything's as it's always been! There's nothing out of the ordinary!"
Ed: "And another thing: your daughter said her name was Meivelle."
Mayor: "My daughter's name is Nono."
Al: "We know that. Does the name Meivelle tell you anything?"
Mayor: "I'm not sure... I've never heard it before."
Ed: "Then how about we try to ask the person in question when she wakes up?"
Mayor: "No, wait! Meivelle... I've read that name somewhere. . . At the church?"
Al: "The church?"
Mayor: "Yes, it's the oldest building of the city."
The mayor explains that by now, it's not even used as a church anymore, and that it was built replacing a search lab that caught fire a long time ago-- destroying most of the city's building. However, since the mayor arrived at the city when the church had already been built, he doesn't really know the details about the whole thing. He remembers reading that name somewhere on a old corner of the church.
TRACK SIX
Nono wakes up, recognize her father and asks what is she doing sleeping there. Ed and Al are surprised to hear the girl suddenly speak in a different dialect, but the family's butler explains that Nono was raised by her grandmother in the southern part of the country, and that she got that place's accent. Ed introduces himself and Al to Nono, explaining that they walked her there after she passed out and that they have a few things to ask her. Ed tries to remind her that she passed out in the room they have in Central, but Nono keeps staring and jiing at him. She convinces herself that Ed is her ideal man and starts clinging to him, then they accidentally kiss. Nono yells that after this they have no choice but to marry, the mayor agrees right away but Ed insists that no, he just merely brushed against her chin, not her lips-- but his witness, Al, claims he didn't see anything and Nono insists, starting to cry.
TRACK SEVEN
Ling arrives at the town's church. He senses that the entire city is surrounded by a weird aura, something that Ran Fan also confirms, and that that church is exactly at the center of it all. He decides to enter, ending up breaking the door. Suddenly, a man's voice starts complaining about the fact he'd just repaired that door a few days prior and calls Ling by his name. Ran Fan says she hadn't felt the man's presence in the church and he explains that hiding his aura has become a habit for him, and that he's surprised to see Ling in such a place. "It's been so long, Ling! Five years?"
Ling asks the man, Coulomb, what he's doing in Amestris-- or rather, why is he alive. He attacks him with his sword, but Coulomb manages to block it easily. Coulomb asks Ling how come the prince of the Yao clan is in Amestris. Ling insists that Coulomb had been sentenced to death and so he should be already be dead, but Coulomb replies that everything he's done he did for the Yao clan, or rather, for Ling himself.
Ling: "Don't joke around! For me...?! That's not true, you—!"
Coulomb tells Ling to calm down and that it's about lunch time, inviting him to eat together with him. Ling doesn't approve . . . but his stomach stomach starts growling.
TRACK EIGHT
Al questions Ed about what he intends to do with Nono, who's still crying. Ed suggests that maybe in these sort of cases it's better to run away, but Nono keeps on crying and so Al tells his brother to maybe say there's already someone he's supposed to marry... like maybe Winry. Ed panics and refuses the proposal: "You think I could really say something like that?!". And then he takes a deep breath.
Ed: "I've decided, Nono."
Nono: "Then...!?"
Ed: "I'm sorry, but I can do what you want. Even if what you claim were true. There are still things I need to do. A lot of things I need to do. And so, I can't. I'm sorry."
Nono runs to the bathroom, and Ed lets out an exasperated sigh. Time goes by and Nono isn't coming back, until suddenly the door opens again and an upset waiter explains that they can't find Nono anymore, that she disappeared from the bathroom, and that they haven't been able to find her anywhere in the mansions.
Al: "So she went out...!?"
TRACK NINE
Ed wants to help looking for Nono but the mayor insists that Al is enough and that he can't allow his precious son-in-law to disappear as well. A waiter comes to lock the door and tells Ed they'll keep him locked into the mansion until Nono's back. Even if they have locked him with the key, Ed could easily use Alchemy to break the lock, but he decides to stay put and comments this whole situation evolved into something absurd. At that point he recalls Meivelle's words ("please, save us") and the mayor's ("What are you talking about? You've seen yourself how peaceful the town is. ...it's the same outside".)
Ed: "That behavior... more than that of someone who's hiding something, it looked like ... someone who's scared of something."
From his room, Ed can hear the sound of bells going off, and suddenly he notices that on the wall, there's some lichen that wasn't there before. He recall's Al's words about lichen being attached to most buildings in town and he notices that the lichen on the wall is moving. A scream coming from the hallway convinces him to transmute the door to go out, just in time to witness another lichen eating a man. He once again recalls Meivelle's words: "It'll be destroyed by the children of the stars, who awoke from their sleep".
Ed: "Could it be that— she was talking about this?!"
After eating one man, the lichen takes on a human form. From far away, Ed hears the mayor's screams and runs in his direction, yelling that he's got some explaining to do.
TRACK TEN
Al is looking for Nono but he can't find her anyway. Then he sees her, he starts to follow her and finally he manages to catch up to her. He asks her why she ran but before she can even answer, he says it first "You couldn't bear to stay at home, right?". He reveals that he actually saw that his brother kissed her chin, not her lips, and he asks her why she insisted so much with him. Nono asks him to come closer and confess something to his ear.
Al: "I understand, but..."
At that point Ed comes running, yelling that the mayor told him about the town's history. Al has heard it from Nono too, but when he turns around the girl isn't there anymore and he guesses it's because she saw Ed. As they walk looking for Nono, Ed recalls the mayor's tale: a month earlier, that lichen appeared in town. At the same time, some people begun to disappear. Some people begun to say the disappearances had to do with the lichen, but the mayor thought it was just hearsay. He tried to get rid of the lichen by burning them, but the lichen reacted the way Ed just saw (eating the attacker). If no one tries to do anything to them, the lichen don't react and so they tried to live thinking everything would stay the same. Ed asked the mayor if he knew what that lichen was, but the mayor had no idea.
TRACK ELEVEN
Ling is eating with Coulomb. The two of them had known each other since Ling was still a child, since Coulomb used to be one of his teachers and was the one to teach him sword fighting and martial arts. Coulomb remarks that Ling was still a child last time they met. It was Ling who sentenced Coulomb to death under the accusation he was scheming a conspiracy to kill Ling's older siblings, in order to put him on the throne.
Ling: "Coulomb... you should be dead. Why are you still alive?"
Coulomb explains that he was a pretty popular guy and that people helped him escape. Ling is pretty pissed but Coulomb stops him: "Ling, you were my treasure. Making you Emperor was my dream."
Ling: "Just as I thought... you're someone who's better off dead!"
Coulomb insists, however. "I'll make you Emperor, Ling!"
TRACK TWELVE
Ed and Al arrive to the church and meet up with Ran Fan. They ask her if she's seen a girl - the answer is no - and what is she doing in there. Ran Fan replies that Ling is inside eating and that the person with him is Coulomb, a member of the Yao Clan, from Xing. Inside, Coulomb repeats to Ling that he wants to make him Emperor, and that he could do so right away as in that church, he's found "Tai Sui" (Taisai in Japanese, one of the generals that according to chinese astrology accompained the Jade Emperor). After Tai Sui's appearance, Coulomb explains that he's found him in the church's underground when it was still very small, but that once he started feeding it, it became much more large. That creature fell there from space, when the church was still a military research lab, created to study the rock that fell 35 years prior. An unknown being was attached to that rock... and Coulomb believes that being is Tai Sui. Coulomb asks Ling to join him and feed to Tai Sui everyone who comes between them and tries to stop them.
Coulomb: "Didn't you want power?"
*flashback* Child Ling: "I want power. An absolute power in order to protect the Yao Clan...!"
Coulomb: "Take a good look! This is... power!"
"We arrived to the city of Weltz at the request of a mysterious girl who wanted our help. The mysterious living form called back from the underground answering to the criminal Coulomb -- is it a god, or maybe a malicious creature that'll bring disaster? And Meivelle, who reappeared in front of our eyes, is wishing for the world's destruction. "Monthly Shonen Gangan's supplement: Drama CD, Full Metal Alchemist - Meteor Plan. Wait for the next part!"
