Neutral-Significant - Confrontation with Coulomb, defeated (Drama CD)

What it is:
Translated scenes from italian to english you are warned for shitty translation.
1

Ed and Al arrive to the church and meet up with Lan Fan. They ask her if she's seen a girl walking by -- the answer is no -- and what is she doing in that place. Lan Fan tells them that Ling is having a meal with a dude and that that dude is Coulomb, a member of the Yao Clan. But right after she corrects herself and points out that it might be better to say he was a member of the Yao clan. Al doesn't have the time to ask further explanationt hough: Lan Fan notices something strange is happening in the church and right at that time the ground starts trembling. Lan Fan, Ed and Al get grabbed by tentacles and Ed recognizes the liechen that's been invading the city... though Al objects to calling it that since it's obviously not just a lichen anymore (NO SHIT IT'S NOW A TENTACLE MONSTER GOOD JOB WITH THAT OBSERVATION AL). Coulomb tells Ling to join him and to feed anyone who tries to stand in their way to Tai Sui (tentacle monster-chan).

Coulomb: "Didn't you want power?"

Flashback:
Child Ling: "I want power...! An absolute power to protect the Yao Clan...!"

Coulomb: "Observe! This is... power!"

2.

Ling: I refuse.

Coulomb: "You don't feel like borrowing a monster's power to become Emperor? You're so weak..."

Ling: "Don't make me laugh! I'd use even a monster's power to become emperor! What I'm rejecting is... you, Coulomb. That's right. what if I killed you and just took the monster with me?"

Coulomb: "Don't say such sad things! You're rejecting me? Me, who care about you and the Yao clan more than anyone else, Ling?"

Ling: "That's not true. What you really care about--"

Tentacle monster bursts into church at this point. Coulomb asks Ling if Lan Fan is his servant and tells him he won't need her anymore with Tai Sui by his side. Ling asks Coulomb to let go Al, Ed and Lan Fan but when Coulomb refuses, Ling decides the only thing to do is to kill him-- that way Tai Sui would calm down. Ling expresses regret over not killing Coulomb with his own hands five years prior, and thus Coulomb proposes him a deal: if he can defeat him, Tai Sui will free his hostages (the wonder trio), but if Coulomb wins Ling will have to obey him. Ling just yells at him "Do whatever you want" and the two start battling. Coulomb observes that Ling combines martial arts with his sword technique and compliments him on having begun to use his head. But despite that, he tells him it's still not enough and if he won't focus more the duel will end soon.

Lan Fan asks Ed and Al if they can't do anything to fre themselves from Tai Sui and Ed comments that if he could use his hands it wouldn't be a problem for him, but that neither him nor Al can free themselves from the monster's grip.

Coulomb: "So, Ling? Do you feel like siding with me now?"

Ling: "Do you think I could feel like doing something like that? Idiot!"

Coulomb: "You're just as stubborn as you used to be, But—!"

[ and here Coulomb manages to disarm Ling like he manages to throw his sword away and stuff. ]

Ling: "Damn! My sword—!"

Coulomb: "People of this country say "checkmate" in this sort of situation, right? Now, come with me, Ling! You don't need to do anything, I—!"

Ling: "I thought I already told you I refuse...!"

Coulomb: "Why won't you understand? I'm telling you I'll make you Emperor...!"

Considerations:
Nothing particularly worth mentioning since Ling already remembers enough re: Coulomb fuckery. At this point rather than being upset over it he's just going to be like "THAT DOUCHE". No I mean he will probably be upset too but. After actual trauma bombs he had before this ain't no big deal.
